Markerle Davis – managing and online marketing director
Markerle launched Soap in 2005 following a seven-year spell with NewReg.com, where he oversaw the company’s UK online marketing strategy, and helped to propel it to the position as the country’s leading car registration provider.
His role at NewReg.com also included a consultancy position for UKIP (Internet Consultants) Ltd, one of the first internet service providers in the country. Here Markerle ran a series of successful affiliate programmes and negotiated co-branded partnerships with companies such as MSN, Yahoo, Freeserve (now Wanadoo), AOL and many other large internet properties.
UKIP also owned one of the most prolific domain portfolios in the UK and had thousands of high quality generic domain names such as car.co.uk, england.co.uk, and love.co.uk. Markerle was pivotal in creating UKIP’s very own search engine making best use of the direct traffic that these generic domain names could deliver.
The success of the search engine resulted in Markerle attending various search engine/web developer conferences and expos around the world including Search Engine Strategies held in San Jose, California, where he met senior representatives from all the major search engines and attended social events at their respective head office including Googleplex.
In 2005, Markerle launched Soap with his brother Adam and the company has since carved out a reputation as a regional leader in digital marketing, representing clients such as Pontin’s, European Radio Awards, American Golf, Key Retirement Solutions and Creative Lancashire. Markerle is a Google Certified Professional and sits on the steering committee of Northwest Vision and Media.
Adam Davis – creative and development director
Adam originally started out studying biochemistry but was given the opportunity in 1997 to get involved in the young internet company, UKIP (Internet Consultants) Ltd, one of the first ISPs in the UK. During his time at UKIP, Adam gained an in-depth understanding of website design and development. After his time at UKIP Adam worked on a series of projects for a number of large North West design agencies. He ran his own business from 2000, delivering projects for Virgin, NHS and Bradford & Bingley, and his work was being showcased in many industry publications.
Adam joined forces with his brother, Markerle, to launch Soap in 2005. He is a Google Certified Professional and sits as an external adviser to a number of digital courses at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan).
