Joining the Elite
Fresh from our learnings in 2020, we continued exploring the possibilities of the post-pandemic world to secure more exciting partnerships. From navigating the challenges posed by the arrival of iOS14.5, to fighting off the fiercest of competition to become the preferred partner for Diversey’s global brand, there ain’t no stopping us now! More awards followed, courtesy of The Bibas, Clutch, The Drum and more, but perhaps our favourite moment was attaining - and then retaining - Google Elite Partnership status. We also stepped up investment in our ever expanding team of Soaperstars, creating a fully-bespoke Personal Development Plan program that assists them to be the very best they can be.

Thriving in adversity
The world was rocked by a global pandemic, with lockdowns making the digital experience more essential than ever. Undeterred, we rose to substantial challenges by transforming our office culture to utilise the benefits of remote working, developing new services, and securing business from Omnicell, Minerva and the University of Portsmouth. Our doubling down on our philosophy helped us navigate this difficult period for our partners, as our work in 2020 led to us being named the number one agency in the UK for client satisfaction by The Drum, alongside a fourth consecutive year of recognition from Clutch.

Expanding our talented team
More of the UK's leading businesses were drawn to our award-winning agency. We completed big projects for Adobe and the Paris Saint Germain Academy, while proudly bringing on key clients like The Cumberland Building Society and the British Woodworking Federation. So we focused on expanding our strong team. This included bringing in some of the region's best talent in PPC, design and content to deliver businesses the best results.

Awards on a global scale
In our impressive HQ, we onboarded some exciting new clients, including Redrow and Diversey Plc, while delivering innovative work for our existing ones, such as Centre of Excellence - reaping the rewards on a global scale. We won a place in the Top 1000 Global Companies - awarded by reviews platform Clutch. We also relaunched our website and were awarded the Mobile Excellence Badge from Google and Awwwards, which recognises the world's best web agencies.

Stop the presses!
After years in the pipeline, Soap Media was ready to expand and converting the Victorian Lambert Brothers’ printing press into our brand-new HQ in Preston’s city centre was just the beginning!
Our newly re-furbished, historical offices on Glover’s Court gave us more leg room and a more accessible, central position – right in the heart of Preston high street’s hustle and bustle!

Soap go on the up
While keeping our ears to the ground and working hard to stay ahead of the curve when it came to digital trends, we were hand-picked out of 10,000 other agencies by the search engine gods at Google to participate in their prestigious Google Elevator programme.
This led us to landing some of our biggest clients such as Money Supermarket and Merlin – and they were just the beginning …

Awards nods, major clients & our 10th anniversary
We worked all year with the UK’s most trusted brand, the AA, and expanded our offices with top new talent. At the same time, we celebrated our 10th anniversary in fine style - this included nominations in three categories for the Northern Digital Awards.

Innovation, big clients & more hard work
New and innovative ad strategies are implemented, and we try our hand at sophisticated programmatic advertising and remarketing. Yikes! Never fear, as we further developed our performance based lead generation model, whilst breaking sales records for clients such as Booths Supermarkets and Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

Sweat, tears & new blood
We recruit lots of talented new blood. The sweat and tears bags great new clients, including Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Preston’s College. We go-gong fishing at the BIBAs and land e-Business of the Year. Big profits are reported and we get virtuous by ploughing through the Growth Accelerator Programme. A new performance model is found offering clients a low risk proposition.

Development
The big names keep flooding in – Booths Supermarkets, Kukri (JD Sports) and Colortrac. Of course, we could spend all our profits on nice things like Belgian cookies but instead we reinvest by developing staff and the management team. Next up? New premises that do justice to our market-leading status.

Expansion
In case the many years of success go to our heads, we appoint a dedicated business manager to keep us all in check. We get all big headed again anyway when we're shortlisted for Digital Business of the Year in the annual Red Rose Awards.

More Tea Vicar?
Portakabins have many benefits — mainly cost — but great hospitality for clients isn't one of them. We find salvation in an old vicarage in the centre of Preston. (Cleanliness is next to godliness.) New premises? New branding and website soon follow.

First million spend on Google
The jungle drums beat loudly about our strong performance in digital marketing and we attract some big beasts from competitive market sectors such as finance and law. These big accounts lead to our first million pound spend on Google Adwords.

Exposure
Word spreads as traditional media, PR and design agencies ask us to work for their own clients. Our work appears in the pages of magazines like Web Designer. We are the Wordpress geniuses.

Clean & Polish
A clean and polish for our website and marketing tactics. Brand, design, build and promote the European Radio Awards in Barcelona. Work with Slazenger on the Cricket World Cup – and notch a century of clients.

Big players now
Acorns? Not a word of it. Soap Media grow oak trees from the start, pulling major accounts like Pontins and American Golf. We prove we're certifiable, with certification from Google and Yahoo. And Google send us a nice gift (a digital photo frame).

A star is born
Brothers Adam and Markerle come clean and set up Soap Media, with Adam's background in web design and development and Markerle's cutting-edge search engine marketing prowess offering dual-cleansing power.

Turning on the taps
It's not just a jolly for Markerle as he travels the world's search engine conferences, pressing the flesh of the great and good at all the major search engines (including Googleplex). Honest. He proves it by deciding to set up a digital agency.
